"Commercial-World" EtudeThis solo performance etude, targeted for the high school percussionist (perhaps for entry level collegiate percussionists) explores performance techniques of common instruments from the commercial and world percussion arenas, utilizing a continuous play-along sound accompaniment (6' 6"). Instruments: Afuche/Cabasa (beaded cylinder with handle), small shaker (tube), headless tambourine (mounted), small bell and block (mounted), 2 congas, large cowbell (mounted), shekere, guiro, timbales, splash/small cymbal, small triangle, pandeiro, 2 caxixi.
Purpose: to introduce instruments, present performance techniques, and to initiate ideas/skills/experiences toward contributing to a jazz ensemble or a commercial/pop group as an independent percussionist (in support of the ensemble's drum set player). |
